When a tooth cannot hold up on its own, a crown can protect it. Dr. Brittany Pierpont fits custom crowns at Pier Dental for patients from Treasure Island, covering teeth that are cracked, worn, discolored or heavily filled.
Crowns are made from porcelain, ceramic or metal, and we select what suits the tooth. A crown can also support a bridge across a missing tooth.
Getting a crown, step by step

The tooth is numbed and reshaped, and our TRIOS scanner records a digital impression. A temporary crown goes on while the lab finishes the permanent one.
At the final visit it is bonded and fine-tuned for your bite.

A crown after a root canal

Root canal therapy removes infected tissue from inside a tooth and stops the pain. A crown then seals and strengthens the tooth.
We review this sequence with you first, so it never comes as a surprise.

Smaller restorations

When the damage is not too severe, an inlay or onlay may preserve more of your tooth than a crown would. They are made of porcelain or composite.
We recommend the most conservative option that will last.

About Treasure Island
Treasure Island’s land area is small, about 1.6 square miles by Census Bureau figures, and it is ringed by water. A crown takes more than one visit, so being near the office is a practical plus.
Pier Dental is at 8351 Blind Pass Rd. We see crown patients from Treasure Island, Sunset Beach, Madeira Beach and St. Pete Beach, and free second opinions are available.
If a tooth is cracked or worn, call (727) 363-6169 before it breaks. Already hurting? Ask for a same-day emergency appointment.
