When a tooth cracks or an ache turns severe, you want help close to the day it starts. Pier Dental offers same-day emergency appointments, and Dr. Brittany Pierpont sees patients from the Gandy area of St. Petersburg.
Call (727) 363-6169 and describe what is happening. We will tell you what to do while you travel to us.
Severe toothache

A deep ache that spreads to the jaw or ear can mean decay or infection. Dr. Pierpont examines the tooth, images it and treats the cause rather than just the pain.
Swelling or fever means you should be seen promptly.

Dental trauma

A fall, a car jolt or a hard bite can loosen or break a tooth. Save any pieces, rinse gently and hold a cold compress against the swelling.
A tooth knocked out whole should be kept in milk and brought along when you call.

Cracked teeth

A crack may not be visible but can make biting painful. Early treatment limits how far it spreads and how much of the tooth is lost.
Options range from bonding to a crown to a root canal, depending on depth.
