Veneers are thin shells of porcelain or composite resin bonded to the front of your teeth. At Pier Dental in St. Pete Beach, Dr. Brittany Pierpont designs them to match your natural color, shape and size, so your smile looks improved but not obviously done.
They can help with discoloration, chipped or worn teeth, gaps and slightly crooked teeth, and they are a way to create a more uniform look across several teeth at once. Veneers are a considered decision, so we start with a conversation about what bothers you and what you hope for.
What to expect from the veneer process

First we meet to talk about your smile goals. Preparing the teeth involves removing a small amount of enamel so the veneers fit well, and then impressions are taken so custom veneers can be made to match your teeth in color and shape.
At the final visit, the veneers are bonded securely to your teeth. Because tooth preparation is part of the process, we make sure you understand each step before anything is done.

When bonding may be a better fit

Not every cosmetic concern needs a veneer. If your issue is a small chip, a minor gap or a spot of discoloration, composite bonding can often handle it in one visit, usually in under an hour per tooth.
Bonding is minimally invasive and generally more affordable than veneers, though bonded resin can stain over time. Dr. Pierpont will tell you plainly which option suits your teeth, even if that means the simpler one.

Whitening if color is the only concern

Sometimes people ask about veneers when what they really want is a brighter shade. Our take-home whitening options include custom trays with professional gel, an at-home LED kit and professional-strength strips, all stronger than over-the-counter products.
If your teeth are well shaped and healthy, whitening may deliver the change you want without reshaping anything. If shape, gaps or chips matter to you as well, veneers may be the better route.

About St. Pete Beach
St. Pete Beach has a layered history. It was formed in a 1957 referendum that consolidated Pass-a-Grille, Don CeSar Place, Belle Vista and St. Petersburg Beach, and consolidation won by a five-vote margin. In 1994 residents voted to shorten the name from St. Petersburg Beach to St. Pete Beach.
We like that story because a good smile makeover is also about bringing separate pieces into harmony. Pier Dental, a family-owned practice at 8351 Blind Pass Rd, plans veneers for patients from St. Pete Beach, Treasure Island, Madeira Beach, Gulfport and South Pasadena.
