Few things are as disruptive as a dental emergency. If you are in Seminole and a tooth is hurting or broken, Pier Dental offers same-day emergency appointments with Dr. Brittany Pierpont.
Please call before you try to tough it out. Pain that subsides can mean the nerve is dying, and the sooner we look, the more options you tend to have.
When a toothache will not quit

A constant throb, pain when chewing, or sensitivity that lingers after hot or cold may signal decay or an infection. Dr. Pierpont examines the area, takes X-rays and finds the source.
That can lead to a filling, a root canal or another repair. Facial swelling, fever or difficulty swallowing mean you should call us right away.

A tooth that cracked or fractured

Biting hard food, clenching or an aging filling can crack a tooth. Some cracks are visible; others show up only as an odd twinge when you bite down.
Treatment depends on how deep the crack goes, from bonding to a crown to a root canal. We explain the likely path before beginning.

A tooth that needs a root canal

Deep infection inside a tooth can cause severe pain, a bad taste or a gum bump. A root canal removes the damaged tissue and saves the tooth.
Modern root canal therapy is meant to relieve pain, not cause it. Dr. Pierpont will confirm the need with X-rays before recommending it.
