A crown fits over your whole tooth. Dr. Brittany Pierpont uses crowns at Pier Dental when a tooth is cracked, heavily decayed, weakened by a large filling, or discolored and misshapen, and when a bridge needs support.
You can choose among porcelain, ceramic and metal with her guidance. We discuss which material suits the tooth’s job.
Crown appointments explained

First comes numbing and shaping of the tooth, followed by a digital impression with our TRIOS scanner. You leave with a temporary, and the final crown is bonded in at the next visit.
A well-cared-for crown can last ten to fifteen years or longer.

Saving a tooth with a root canal first

If the nerve is infected, a root canal removes the damaged tissue so the pain stops. A crown is usually placed afterward to hold the tooth together.
We take time to explain what each step will feel like.

Onlays when less will do

Onlays rebuild one or more cusps and cover less than a crown. They are fabricated from a digital impression in porcelain or composite.
If one fits your tooth, we will tell you so.

About Bahia Shores
St. Pete Beach has only about 2.2 square miles of land, and much of it runs along Long Key. Bahia Shores falls inside that, and a short drive gets you to a crown fitting.
Pier Dental, at 8351 Blind Pass Rd, treats Bahia Shores crown patients along with neighbors from Treasure Island, South Pasadena and Pass-A-Grille.
Do not wait until a cracked tooth splits. Call (727) 363-6169 for an exam, or ask for a same-day appointment if you are in pain.
