A crown caps a tooth that no longer holds up on its own. Dr. Brittany Pierpont places crowns for Rattlesnake patients whose teeth are cracked, worn down, broken or heavily filled.
Porcelain, ceramic and metal are all options. We choose by tooth position, bite and appearance, and we explain the reasoning.
The two-visit rhythm

At the first visit the tooth is shaped and our TRIOS scanner captures a digital impression, with a temporary crown placed.
The permanent crown is bonded at the second visit, once the lab has finished it.

After a root canal

Treating an infected nerve ends the pain, yet the tooth is often brittle afterward. A crown seals it and restores strength.
We map out this sequence at the start so nothing surprises you.

When a smaller repair works

An inlay or onlay covers only the damaged part of a chewing surface and keeps more natural tooth than a full crown.
We choose the most conservative restoration that can last.

About Rattlesnake
Rattlesnake belongs to South Tampa and was annexed by the city in the 1950s. With two crown visits needed, plan on the drive: we are about 17 miles away in a straight line, and farther by road.
We schedule crown appointments with that distance in mind, and a free second opinion is available if someone else has recommended a crown.
Think a tooth needs a crown? Call (727) 363-6169 and we will find a time that works for the trip.
