A dental emergency rarely arrives at a convenient time. Pier Dental offers same-day emergency dental appointments, often the same day you call, for patients in St. Pete Beach, Treasure Island, Madeira Beach and surrounding areas. Dr. Brittany Pierpont’s priority is to get you out of pain and figure out what is wrong.
Call (727) 363-6169 as soon as the problem starts rather than waiting to see if it settles. Pain that fades can still mean an infection or a crack that keeps growing. You will not be judged for how the tooth got this way or how long it has bothered you.
Toothache relief and a real diagnosis

Tooth pain can come from decay, gum disease, an infection, a cracked tooth or an injury. Dr. Pierpont examines the area, may take X-rays, and works out the cause so treatment fits the problem rather than just masking it.
Depending on what we find, treatment may be a filling, root canal therapy or another solution. See a dentist promptly if the pain persists or worsens, or comes with swelling, fever or trouble swallowing.

Cracked or broken teeth

Teeth take a lot of force every day, and cracks can start from an impact, grinding, biting something hard or an old, large filling. Signs include sharp pain when you bite, a lingering ache, sensitivity to hot, cold or sweets, and sometimes swelling.
Cracks tend to expand unless treated, so the earlier you come in, the better. Depending on how deep the damage goes, the answer may be bonding, a crown or a root canal, and we will explain which and why.

Knocked-out teeth and mouth injuries

Falls, sports and accidents can chip, loosen or knock out a tooth. Rinse your mouth gently with warm water and hold a cold compress to the swelling. If a tooth is knocked out, keep it moist in milk or a preservation solution and call us right away, since quick action improves the odds of saving it.
Dr. Pierpont evaluates the teeth, gums and surrounding tissue, then recommends treatment that may include bonding, a crown or root canal therapy. A tooth infection with swelling or fever is also urgent.
