Describe what happened and when it started. We will tell you what to do for the pain, how to protect the tooth and when to arrive. Having a plan makes a long drive less stressful.
If you have swelling in your face or neck, a fever or trouble swallowing, call us at once. For breathing trouble or heavy bleeding, go to the nearest emergency room.

A tooth that has cracked
A crack can hurt when you bite, then ease, then return. It may follow a hard bite, grinding or a big old filling that has weakened the tooth. Waiting often lets the crack travel deeper.
Dr. Pierpont looks at how far it reaches. The fix might be bonding, a crown or a root canal. You will hear the reason for each.

A tooth that has been knocked out
Pick it up by the crown, not the root. Rinse it gently, and keep it in milk or a tooth preservation solution. Do not scrub it or let it dry out.
Time matters for saving a tooth, so call as you leave. We will check the tooth, the gums and the bone around it.
