A knocked tooth or a throbbing jaw is hard to ignore. Pier Dental offers same-day emergency appointments, and Dr. Brittany Pierpont aims to ease the pain first, then explain the cause.
Town ‘n’ Country is about 20 miles from us in a straight line, over water and traffic. For that reason, please phone (727) 363-6169 before you leave. We will give you instructions and tell you what time to arrive.
A knocked-out or loosened tooth

Handle it by the crown only. Rinse it gently, and place it in milk or a preservation solution. Avoid wiping off tissue or letting it dry.
Call as you head out, since the first hour counts. We will check the tooth and the bone and gum around it.

Pain that wakes you at night

Toothaches can come from decay, infection, a crack or gum disease. Hot or cold sensitivity that lingers and a bite that hurts are signs to act.
We examine the area, take X-rays if needed and find the cause. Then you hear your choices in plain words.

Infection that may need a root canal

Swelling near a tooth can mean an infection. It will not go away by itself, and it can spread. If you also have fever or trouble swallowing, tell us immediately.
If the nerve is the problem, Dr. Pierpont can often treat it with a root canal in our office. For breathing difficulty, go to the nearest hospital.
