A crown protects a tooth that has cracked, worn down or lost too much structure. Dr. Brittany Pierpont uses a TRIOS 3D scanner at Pier Dental, so you can skip the bite trays.
West Tampa is about 21.5 miles away in a straight line, and the road takes longer. We schedule the scan, the temporary crown and the final fitting with that distance in mind.
What a scan feels like

A slim wand glides over the tooth and builds a 3D picture as it goes. There is no putty and little gagging.
The lab uses that model to craft the crown.

A crack that hurts on biting

Sharp pain when you release a bite can point to a cracked tooth. Catching it early may prevent a split.
Dr. Pierpont examines it and tells you if a crown is needed.

Crowns after a root canal

Teeth that have had a root canal tend to be brittle. A crown acts like a helmet.
We perform the root canal here and plan the crown with it.

About West Tampa
The Carnegie-funded West Tampa library opened on Howard Avenue in 1914 and was restored in 2004. Good restoration work lasts for decades, and a well-made crown aims for the same.
We offer free second opinions if another office has recommended a crown.
Call (727) 363-6169 for a crown evaluation. We will explain timing, the temporary crown and the in-house plan.
