Pier Dental is a general dentistry office in Saint Pete Beach, at 8351 Blind Pass Rd (St. Pete Beach, FL 33706). Dr. Brittany Pierpont treats teens and adults, from routine checkups through fillings, crowns and root canals. As a family-owned practice, we know our patients by name rather than by account number.
Maybe it has been a year since your last visit. Maybe it has been ten. Either answer is fine here. We look, we explain what we see in plain words, and you decide what happens next.
Start with an exam and a set of X-rays

Your first appointment gives Dr. Pierpont time to check your teeth, gums, bite, jaw joints and soft tissues, including a screening for oral cancer. Digital X-rays show what a mirror cannot, such as decay between teeth or changes in the bone, and we pull them up on screen so you can see them too.
Think of this visit as a baseline. Once we know where your mouth stands today, every later visit becomes quicker, calmer and easier to plan.

Fillings that match the tooth

A small cavity is the easiest problem to fix, and the sooner it is found the less of your tooth we have to touch. We repair decay with white composite fillings, which are shaded to blend with the enamel around them and bond firmly in place.
After numbing, Dr. Pierpont removes the softened area, places the material in layers and checks your bite before you leave. If a tooth has lost too much structure for a filling, she will go over a stronger option with you first.

When a tooth needs a root canal

Lingering pain, a sore spot when you chew, or a gum bubble near one tooth can point to an infected nerve. A root canal clears that infection from inside the tooth, which usually lets you keep the tooth rather than lose it.
Waiting rarely helps, because infected teeth tend to get worse, not better. Call early, and we will work out what is going on and what it will take to settle it.
